1. Terms of the privacy policy

1.2. These terms apply to all users of activities and services related to the NGO and stipulates the basis for how the NGO processes data.

1.3. By using the website of the NGO, you agree to the terms of our data processing and privacy policy.

1.4. We confirm that the processing of personal data (hereinafter also data) complies with the relevant legislation of Estonia and the European Union.

1.5. These terms and conditions are established as of 03.01.2022. We reserve the right to change the terms of the Privacy Policy, as well as to update or remove the terms of this Privacy Policy or the content or access to our websites at any time, with or without prior notice.

2. Data collection

2.1. The NGO is engaged in the research and promotion of effective altruism in Estonia. The goal of the NGO is to help increase people's understanding of effective altruism so that they can donate more effectively or make more effective career choices. To do this, we organize research projects, debates, career seminars, one-on-one conversations and award scholarships. As part of these activities, your data is processed.

2.2. We collect personal data primarily if it is necessary to identify you and to contact you in connection with the activities of the NGO or the provision of services or the performance of the contract, but also to fulfill the obligations arising from the law.

2.3. In addition, data is collected to evaluate the impact of the NGO's activities, to make the activities more efficient and to offer you individually suitable value.

3. Data processing

3.1. We process the data:

3.1.1. information that you have provided to us yourself. In particular, this is the name, telephone number, e-mail address, contact address, data published by you about your activities so far and the goals of your future activities, as well as information contained in applications and documents submitted to us (including electronic documents).

3.1.2. we additionally process your data about being in contact with the NGO (especially participation in events, your e-mails, written communication and related data).

3.1.3. we also process information technology data that the website or your device uses to establish contact with the website of the NGO (in particular, IP address, cookies, operating system, type of web browser, language, time of use of the website, etc.).

3.1.4. if necessary, we also process data about your specific donation or the donation received from you (including information about the bank account).

3.2. We also process the following data:

3.2.1. to fulfill all orders made by you (for example, if we distribute copies of the book and you request a copy to be sent to you, we will use the email address provided by you);

3.2.2. to evaluate your request to visit the event or to finance the project;

3.2.3. to comply with the auditing and donation assistance requirements of the NGO;

3.2.4. to ensure that the content of our websites is presented in the most effective way for you and your device;

3.2.5. or respond to inquiries sent to the NGO. If you contact the NGO, we can respond by phone or e-mail, if you have not forbidden the NGO to do so.

3.3. The NGO processes the following data from special types of personal data, if you have voluntarily disclosed them during communication and/or conducted interviews:

3.3.1. political views;

3.3.2. data describing religious and ideological beliefs.

4. Processing of certain types of electronic data

4.1. The website uses the Google Analytics analysis application, which in turn uses various cookies to collect information about how users use the website, make statistics about it, and also offer advertisements that correspond to user habits. For example, the website collects the following internet log information through cookies: user's IP address, operating system, type of web browser, language, time of use of the website.

4.2. A cookie is a small text file that is automatically saved by the web browser on the device used by the user. Cookies are used to collect information about how the user uses the website, with the aim of providing the user with a better user experience.

4.3. The user can delete and/or block cookies stored on their devices by changing the corresponding settings of their web browser. If cookies are not used, the website may not work as planned and/or some functionalities may not be available to users.

4.4. In addition to the use of analysis cookies, websites use pixels (pixel tags, web-beacons), which are used to monitor the use of the website. In doing so, no personally identifiable data is processed.

5. Legal basis

Personal data is processed on the following legal grounds if:

5.1. you have given your consent to the processing of your data for one or more specific purposes;

5.2. processing is necessary to fulfill the contract to which you are a party or to take measures at your request before concluding the contract;

5.3. processing is necessary to fulfill the applicable legal obligations of the NGO;

5.4. processing is necessary to protect the vital interests of you or another natural person;

5.5. the processing is necessary for the performance of a task performed in the public interest or for the exercise of public authority assigned to us;

5.6. processing is necessary for our or a third party's legal interests, unless these interests are overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms that require the protection of personal data, especially if you are a child;

5.7. other applicable legal bases for data processing, in particular the provisions of national law.

6. Transmission of personal data to third parties

6.1. Personal data is transferred by the NGO when offering a service or activity related to you, if any cooperation partner of the NGO participates in it.

6.2. The NGO may engage external service providers who act as data processors of the NGO to provide certain services to the NGO, such as website service providers, marketing service providers and IT support providers. When providing such services, external service providers may have access to and/or process your personal data.

6.3. The NGO may also transmit data to natural and legal persons financing the NGO's activities in order to prove the NGO's activities and its scope and ensure the sustainable economic activity of the NGO.

6.4. The NGO always requires that these external service providers and cooperation partners implement and apply security measures to ensure the integrity and security of your personal data.

7. Data security

7.1. Personal data is stored on virtual and private servers located in the territory of a member state of the European Union or countries that have joined the European Economic Area. Data may be transferred to countries whose level of data protection has been assessed as adequate by the European Commission and to US companies that are affiliated with the Privacy Shield framework.

7.2. The management/employees of the NGO have access to personal data, who can view personal data in order to resolve your inquiries and deal with organizing the use of activities and services related to your NGO.

7.3. We use the necessary organizational, physical and information technology security measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data. The goal of information security activities is to apply an appropriate level in protecting information, mitigate risks and prevent threats.

7.4. We start from the principle that the transmission and collection of personal information should be as safe as possible. However, it must be taken into account that there are always certain risks and no technological system is perfectly secure.

8. Exercise of rights related to personal data

8.1. If you have expressed your consent to the collection, processing and use of your personal data in a certain way, you may withdraw this consent at any time in the future.

8.2. In addition, you may object to the use of your personal data for marketing purposes without incurring any costs other than the costs of transmission in accordance with the basic tariffs.

8.3. In accordance with the applicable legislation on data protection, you have the right to:

8.3.1. request access to your personal data,

8.3.2. request correction of your personal data,

8.3.3. request the deletion of your personal data,

8.3.4. request the restriction of the processing of your personal data

8.3.5. request data portability,

8.3.6. express opposition to the processing of your personal data (including opposition to your profiling)

8.3.7. express opposition to automated decision-making (including profiling)

8.3.8. to exercise your rights, please contact us in the manner provided in clause 9.

8.3.9. in case of complaints, you have the right to file a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

9. Data retention

9.1. Your data is stored both electronically and on paper. At the same time, not all data storage is duplicated. Thus, some data are recorded and stored only electronically or on paper.

9.2. Your personal data will be stored as long as it is necessary to provide you with the services and products you want. Once the relationship between us has ended, we will delete your personal data or anonymize your personal data, unless mandatory retention requirements apply. We can retain your contact details and interest in our activities and services for a long time if you have allowed the NGO to send you marketing materials.

9.3. In addition, the NGO may be required by applicable laws to retain some of your personal data for 7 years after the relevant tax year. We may retain your personal data even after the end of the contractual relationship, if your personal data is needed to comply with other applicable laws or if we need your personal data to protect, create and exercise legal claims only on a need-to-know basis. To the extent possible, we will limit the processing of your personal data to such limited purposes after the termination of the contractual relationship.

10. The right to appeal to the NGO, the supervisory authority or the court

10.2. You always have the right to contact the Data Protection Inspectorate or the court to protect your privacy rights and data. The Data Protection Inspectorate is a national institution that can be contacted for consultation or assistance on personal data protection issues.
